An International Conference of the UNESCO Associated Schools Network: Contributing effectively to the implementation of SDG 4 and Education 2030 takes place in Sanya, People's Republic of China, from 8 to 10 April. It gathers some 70 actors from the global ASPnet community, policy makers and partner institutions to explore concrete actions for ASPnet to support the implementation of Education 2030 and the achievement of targets 4.7 and 4.a.
Organized by the Ministry of Education in China, in cooperation with UNESCO, the conference will support current efforts to reform and revitalize the network in order to better guide and support the work of its over 10,000 member institutions and to increase their prospects for cooperation and exchange.
The conference presents an outstanding opportunity for ASPnet actors to discuss how the network can be strengthened and further developed in the SDG context to translate UNESCO's values and priorities into teaching and learning and to ensure that its innovative practices inform national education policy.
Furthermore, the conference aims at engaging the participants in a dialogue that will lead to increased networking and exchange among ASPnet member institutions at national, regional and international levels around ESD and GCED. Session themes include the Thematic Focus of ASPnet, Towards the whole-school approach, Strategies for collaboration between countries and regions and Ensuring political support and scaling up.
